A study in 1975 of business students (undergraduate and graduate) at the University of Delaware, University of Maryland, and Wright State University showed thatthey were infrequent readers of most business periodicals. For example, 21% of the undergrads and 8% of the M.B.A.’s reported never having read the Wall Street Journal.                 (Source)

A survey of 197 students participating in an engineering bibliographic instruction project at the University of Alabama in Fall semester 1977 showed that26.4% of the students had not used Reader’s Guide before (68.6% had used the Guide previously, and 5% gave no response).                      (Source)

A study reported in 1972 of 79 graduate business students at a large, accredited southeastern business school showed that48% of the students could not list 1 index or abstract that they knew how to use, while only 11% were able to list more than 2 sources they knew how to use.                      (Source)

        Ibid…. showed that, of those students who had taken a graduate business research course, 67% rated their knowledge of the library as good to excellent, with 33% rating their knowledge as poor to very poor. Of the students who had not taken the research course, 34% rated their knowledge of the library as good to excellent, while 66% rated their knowledge as poor to very poor.                  (Source)
