 A survey reported in 1982 of the directors of 20 (19 or 95% responding) OCLC distributing networks (e.g., ILLINET, SOLINET, FEDLINK, etc.), showed thatthe two top areas in which 17 respondents desired or anticipated further growth for their networks were (multiple responses allowed) more OCLC members (12 respondents ranking first or second choice) and other contracting activity, processing/delivery (8 respondents ranking first or second choice).                       (Source)

         Ibid…. showed thatthe 4 most common non-OCLC-related information retrieval services contracted through the networks (either being offered as of May 1980 or planned for offering by mid-1981) reported by 12 respondents were (multiple responses allowed): BRS (8 respondents offering; 2 planning), Lockheed DIALOG (7 respondents offering; 2 planning), SDC ORBIT (6 offering; 2 planning), New York Times Information Service (5 offering; 4 planning).                 (Source)
