A 1980-81 study of interlibrary loan requests generated through the OCLC Library during a 7-month period and involving 254 serial requests and 255 monographic requests (total requests: 509) showed that242 (95.3%) of the serial requests and 243 (95.3%) of the monographic requests could be bibliographically verified in the OCLC Online Union Catalog, while of these items, 237 (97.9%) of the serials and 242 (99.6%) of the monographs could be verified as to holding institution in the OCLC Online Union Catalog.                     (Source)

A 1977-78 study of acquisitions in 3 Canadian addictions libraries (Alberta Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Commission, British Columbia Alcohol and Drug Commission, Addiction Research Foundation of Ontario) over a 10-month period that were then searched in the OCLC data base (601 titles) showed thatoverall 422 (70.2%) were found in OCLC. Hit rates for the individual libraries were 67%, 68%, and 74%. (Source)

        Ibid…. showed that76% of the items were U.S. materials while 19.5% were Canadian titles. The hit rate in OCLC for U.S. materials only was 78.9%, while the hit rate in OCLC for Canadian materials only (117 items) was 40 or 34.2%.                         (Source)
